Del. Mary Sue Teny of Patrick readily admits she is encouraged by indications of support she is receiving for the Democratic attorney general nomination. She says it’s much too early for a decision on running, but she, too, is spending a lot of time on the road.

And so, during these lazy, hazy days of this seemingly placid summer, the political pot is quietly boiling. From Pungo to Cross Junction and from Cumberland Gap to Chincoteague the candidates and their cohorts are ranging over the highways and byw'ays of the Commonw'ealth. The hills are alive w'ith the non-sounds of campaigns a-borning.

As for the rest of us, we had best enjoy this quiet season while we can. We have a couple of noisy years ahead.
