Bear Earns

Eagle Award

William “Eric” Bear, HI, received scouting’s highest honor, the Eagle Scout award, in ceremonies held July 3 at Trinity Episcopal Church.

Paul Frantz, committee chairman for Washington’s troop 123, made the presentation.

For his Eagle project, Eric designed and built bird feeders and bird houses for the grounds of the Lynn Care Center at Warren Memorial Hospital in Front Royal. Kevin Harrison, Greg Smith and Edward Summers assisted with the project. Eric gave special thanks to Gordon Thornhill, manager of the Rappahannock Farmers’ Cooperative, for his assistance. Thornhill donated the posts used for the bird feeders.

Eric is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William “Yogi” Bear, former residents of Washington.
