Snead is calling the dry spell a definite drought, but says he isn’t sure what definition weather experts use. He supposes it would be after the situation became a major economic disaster.
State climatologist Pat Michaels doesn’t think it will come to that, though. Michaels forecast the recent record dryspell, but says the last half of the summer should offer more rain than normal. By late summer, he means late August and early September.
