Under the terms of the zoning and subdivision ordinances, Foster must bring that 50-foot right-of-way up to state road standards before his subdivision can be approved. “But even if he does that, there’s a problem with the Highway Department taking the road into the state system (for maintenance) since it serves only one lot,” the zoning administrator said.
“If we have to, we’ll improve the road,” Foster assured the supervisors.
“If they open up that quarry again, you’re going to have trucks going back and forth on your road that you built with your money,” Estes cautioned.
“We’re just hoping they never get booming again,” replied Foster. “There’s not much gravel left in there.”
