Marjorie Keesey

Marjorie Mae Keesey, died July 29, 1983 at Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton. She \Vas fiO years old.
A resident of Washington, Virginia since 1978, Mrs. Keesey was librarian at the Rappahannock County Library. Her sunny smile welcomed regular and first time library patrons alike. An avid reader, she could give an impromptu review of any one of the library’s hundreds of volumes, a talent that was greatly appreciated by patrons.
Born in Boston, Mass., in 1922, she was the daughter of Captain and Mrs. Walter J. Pennell. As the daughter of a Naval officer she spent her childhood in such places as China, the Philippines and Haiti. Later she joined the armed forces herself, serving during World War II in the WAVES, the women’s branch of the Navy, in personnel.
She met her husband Truman J. Keesey when she was stationed in Washington, I). C. The couple lived in Prince George’s, Montgomery and Fauquier Counties. In each place Mrs. Keesey took an active part in community affairs.
She also helped with the family retail business and worked at the American University in Washington, D.C. as assistant in charge of admissions to graduate and foreign studies programs. She became librarian here five years ago when the couple moved to the town of Washington from Warrenton.
Mrs. Keesey is survived by her husband, two sons, Truman Pennell Keesey, Washington, and Timothy Alan Keesey, Rockville, Md., and two grandchildren, Michael and Charlotte.
A memorial service will be conducted Aug. 7 at 1 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, Washington, by the Rev. Jennings Hobson. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Episcopal Cemetery, Woodville. Clore Funeral Home of Culpeper is in charge of arrangements.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Rappahannock County Library or the Trinity Episcopal Church Memorial Fund.
