Divided on the issue of how long to delay the county’s next reassessment, originally set by the state for 1984, Rappahannock’s supervisors voted to seek postponement of the next re-evaluation of property for one year.
The board had the option of asking the state for either a one year or two year postponement. “I’d like to make it for the longest (period) — until 1986,” announced Supervisor H. B. Wood. “We just got through with one and it will cost $60,000 to $70,000. I don’t see how it will benefit anyone to have another reassessment.”
Supervisor Clarence Baldwin seconded Wood’s proposal.
