The sexual reversal during the duet between Mitch ell Mercurio and Nan Reddick was amusing and stunning in its initial impact and then completely believ able in its execution and matter-of-fact performance. In this dance Mercurio appears in a purple gown, with white lace collar while Red dick wears a necktie, white vest, purple silk shirt, and baggy trousers. Together the two portray the timeless saga of w oman scorned accompanied by songs by Km mylou Harris. This sequence closes on a light note with Mercurio gazing at Reddick while Harris sings "Making Relieve." \ et the theme was clear.
Mercurio has a look of yearning and Reddick a strength and energy that makes this unlikely concept come across with all seriousness.
In "Signs and Spirits" the company experiments with movement, sometimes actually seeming to toss away a hand or an arm. The strong focus and well devel oped sense of balance of the dancers sets this section
