hannock News has done an excellent job in reporting the entire case, other newspaper articles have been incorrect or misleading.
The Washington Times on Oct. 25, in reporting about Mr. Spellman’s will, states that he “left the whole shebang to his sidekick, Columbus ‘Poncho’ Greenlee.”
Mr. Spellman’s will is public record. It states “I give, devise, bequeath, and appoint all of my property, real or personal, of whatsoever nature and wheresoever situated, to which I shall be legally or equitablyentitled to Patricia Saltonstall of Flint Hill, Va. I direct that the said Patricia Saltonstall take annually from my net estate an amount equal to 10 percent of my net estate, and pay said amount in equal monthly installments, to my friend, Columbus Greenlee of Amissville, Va., for the life of the said Columbus Greenlee."
