Eight members of a Rappahannock-based drug ring that supplied three counties with marijuana, cocaine and hashish between 1973 and July 1979 have come to terms with the law.
Three of the eight men entered plea agreements last Wednesday, May 23, one day before their jury trial was to begin. Five others also have entered guilty pleas to date.
According to Ken Melson, assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District, Robert Earl Martin, Jr., 30, of Huntly faces the stiffist penalty: a possible 90-year prison term and $296,000 fine.
Martin pleaded guilty to 12 of 13 charges, among them: conspiracy to possess marijuana, hashish and cocaine; possessing marijuana and cocaine with intent to distribute; and travel act violations.
