Very simply, travel means jobs. Minority workers hold 13 percent of all jobs in the industry—a higher percentage than their share of total U.S. employment. Similarly, women hold over half of all travel industry jobs (54 percent), proportionately one q tarter higher than their c verall share. In my view, thei e can be little debate that this reppresents a more tangible, and more effective commitment ’ to economic equity than all the existing job training and public assistance programs combined.
