“This is really something to be proud of,” said creative writing teacher Mike Conmfey in presenting a national ward to one of his budding authors, Brendan Finnerty.
Brendan, a seventh grader at Rappahannock County Elementary School, entered competition sponsored by the International Reading Association’s special interest group for gifted and talented students as a project in the creative writing mini-course taught after school by Connifey and Susan Wittl.
The course had two objectives: to encourage youngsters to write and to have their works published. “Now Brendan’s accomplished both,” Connifey noted.
