Supporting performances had been given the same careful attention as those of the principals. Convincing portrayals were turned in by Brian Barnes as Franz, the butler, Debbie Helmer as Frau Schmidt, the housekeeper, James Dennis as Herr Zeller; Elwood Dodson as Baron Elberfeld; Lee Baines as Admiral Von Schreiber, and all of those portraying the so-called “extras” without whom plays could not be done.
The technical aspects of the production deserve speical note. “The Sound of Music” requires full changes of large and cumbersome sets, lighting for evening, nighttime, indoors and outdoors, elaborate costumes and many, many costume changes.
Despite the conditions that exist for the productions of RCHS, all of these tasks were accomplished, and beautifully. The set changes were possibly the best feat of all, as they were made in silence and in less „ time than doe could imagine.
