After some discussion of whether the Highway Department would allow plantings to screen the cabinet, Kramer said, “If it’s not in a place where it can be screened, then move it. I don’t want to see these things. It’s got to have vegetation.”
The utility’s request was granted unanimously with the stipulation that plantings of shrubbery be made.
Plans For Amissville
The request of Jesse J. and Lois W. Settle to build a separate office building for a used car lot in Amissville led the board to a discussion of the future of Amissville.
“Why didn’t the Planning Commission give us a recommendation on this one?” asked Kramer.
“There was a split of opinion,” said David Konick, Zoning Administrator. “There were some precedents for this kind of thing and the feeling was that it would be unfair to deny this request.”
“We need guidance from the board,” repeated Kramer. “This is a planning function. How far are wo going to let Amissville sprawl?”
“This is a planning problem,” agreed Bird.
“The Planning Commission has already taken a stand,” argued Konick. “At a hearing in 1976 the citizens appeared before the board of supervisors to protest rezoning of Amissville. The supervisors did not take the advice of the planning commission and kept the zoning
