*74' Oats' Kenaion Canceled
Rappahannock High’s Class of74 has canceled plans for its September 2910-year reunion, Nanette Butler, an organizer, announces.
According to Butler, only 20 classmates in the 62-member graduating class responded to invitations, not enough people to cover the cost of the event, which had been scheduled to take ptoe at Panorama.
Ticket money will be refunded beginning this week, Butler said.
• Video Center Opens Saturday
A video center is scheduled to open in Washington this Saturday at noon, Sue Kauffman, a proprietor, announces. The video center will be located in the Baumgardner Building on Main Street.
Available immediately will be Video Cassette Recorder (VCR) machines and stereo equipment for purchase, plus 250 rental tapes, Kauffman said. Expansion plans already are in the works, too: the video center will offer rental machines and have a satellite display.
Grand opening is from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday, during which refreshments will be Berved. Business hours will be the same, Tuesday through Sunday of each week.
• Ordinance Work Session 19th
Rappahannock’s planning commissioners and supervisors are scheduled to meet in joint work session September 19, following the regular meeting of the Planning Commission.
The joint board will consider more changes in a proposed zoning ordinance during the work session, the second session scheduled since an August 15 public hearing on the proposed zoning ordinance.
Availability of transcripts from the August 15 public hearing was discussed during the supervisors’ meeting of September 10, after Robert W. Eastham of Flint Hill asked what the cost would be to have the transcript reproduced.
The cost to the county would be $500 for a transcript, Cleric of Courts Diane Bruce confirmed following the supervisors’ meeting. Supervisors have not yet determined whether they’ll pay the price. Eastham indicated at the meeting, however, that the Rappahannock Political Action Committee (RPAC) would be interested in purchasing a transcript.
• Emergency Courses To Be Offered
