ne ureai meaaow race course officially opened with a unique “ribbon breaking.” Arthur W. Arundel, the president and founder of the Meadow Outdoors Foundation which manages the facility, and several local steeplechase and point-to-point jockeys rode through the ribbon to open the course.
To demonstrate the versatility and capabilities of the new sound system, Mr. Arundel gave a commentary by remote microphone as he rode the course.
“This is the finale of three years of work which would not have been possible without a lot of hard work from the community,” Mr. Arundel told the crowd. “We will be able to do a lot of extra things here including things like this (remote commentary). This system will enable us to cut new turf with steeplechasing in Virginia.”
