Wunderlich said the program is being offered in Virginia to only two rural counties, Clarke and Rappahannock. Clarke, he said, already has begun the program.
When the “cooperative agreement” ends in a year, the county would have the option of purchasing the equipment at a cost of “around 16,400,” or returning it to ERS, Wun: derlich explained. “You get a year of experience, we’ll buy (the system) back. We only want to get your feedback,” Wunderlich said.
Scoggin said she thought the county would be turning to computers in the ftiture, believing them to be cheaper in the long run and more efficient.
William Fletcher of Sperryville, however, cautioned the supervisors on any quick moves into computers. “(It) lodes attractive, but once you’re into computers, it’s costly,” he said.
Supervisor Estes said this was his first knowledge of the proposal. He suggested continuing discussion at the supervisors’ October meeting after boiud members review information about the cooperative agreement.
• Floodplain revision. Zoning Administrator Konick presented a proposed amendment to Article 9 of the 1978 Zoning Ordinance. Specifically, the zoning administrator said Section 9-7 regarding floodplain standards should be amended.
