David Konick of Castleton asked the supervisors to consider an exemption for antique automobiles. Konick said these cars already are exempted by the state and the cars only are to be operated when driving to or from a car show or parade. In addition, he said the fee was burdensome to the “15 or 20” owners of antique cars in the county and would not add much to county revenues anyway.
Supervisor Lane said he had learned the state does make special plates for antique cars since Konick last asked the supervisors to consider the exemption some four months ago. Supervisor Clarence Baldwin saw no need to treat antique-car owners differently, however, and said the fee “doesn’t make much difference to those who can afford (antique cars).”
