Bible Classes Suspended In Schools

Held in Fauquier for more than 40 years, the religion classes have come under public scrutiny this year as residents have alleged the School Board’s endorsement of the WRE program violates the constitutional separation of church and state.

Fauquier Supervisors OK Bonds

A spokesman for Giant Food Inc. said Tuesday his company will open a store in Warenton by early next summer if a Missouri developer can secure financing for a proposed 22-store shopping center.

The Fauquier County Board of Supervisors agreed to use its full $2.8 million allotment of industrial revenue bonds toward the $6.2 million project. The company will find out Oct. 15 if it has been successful in obtaining the remainder of the bond financing from a reserve established by the state under a new federal program which limits the use of such bonds.

Dave Richardson, a bond attorney with the Richmond firm of McGuire Woods and Battle, told the Fauquier supervisors that the outlook for obtaining the remainder of the money is bright.
