Brace explained, even though actual appeals seldom are made. Warren County, for example, has established a board that never has met.
The supervisors tabled the discussion for more information-gathering from Page and other counties. The county considered contracting out such appeals should they occur, however, an official from Warren County suggested Rappahannock establish its own board. He said such a board would beet understand the county and its particular situations.
• Feasibility study. The board briefly discussed a feasibility study in regard to whether an addition to the high school should be completed in steel rather than bride and mortar. Supervisor Lane said the study concluded the less-expensive steel structure would provide the "same life service.”
The supervisors tabled the discussion until they return to frill membership again.
• Computer installation. Supervisors considered a proposal that would allow the county to use a computer free of charge in the Commissioner of Revenue’s office for one year.
Revenue Commissioner Merle Scoggin introduced Gene Wunderlich of the Department of Agriculture’s Economic Research Service (ERS), which is a federal agency. Wunderlich explained the program, which would pay the cost of computer installation, maintenance and services for one year in exchange for "knowledge, experience, and feedback” the county garners during the year.
