A revised motor-vehicle ordinance and an increase in county taxes on licensing of motor vehicles will go into effect March 1,1965. That decision was among many made September 10 during the regular meeting of Rappahannock County’s Board of Supervisors.
The decision to raise to $15 the taxes charged per motorcycle and to $20 the taxes charged per automobile followed a public hearing and much discussion.
"Why do we need to have such a large increase from $15 to $20?” Ronald Frazier of Amissville asked. Frazier wondered why the supervisors didn’t opt instead for a one or two percent increase in real estate taxes to take care of additional revenue needs.
