Diabetes Tests Continue

Appointments may still be made for the Lions Club sponsored diabetes tests at the Rappahannock Medical Center. The diabetes tests will continue until the supplies run out. Call 675-3316 for an appointment.

• Beauty Contest April 12

■pie Miss Rappahannock Beauty Contest will be held Friday night, April 12 at the elementary school. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., the pageant begins at 7:00 p.m. Admission is $2.50 for adults and $1.25 for students. The contest is sponsored by the Sperryville rescue squad.

• Pifer visit cancelled

William W. Pifer, assistant to Congressman D. French Slaughter has cancelled his April 17 visit to the Rappahannock and Warren County areas. His next trip to Washington and Front Royal will be on Wednesday, May 15.

• Fatal Accident

John Adolthus Dahlgren, 56, of Huntly was killed in an automobile accident Tuesday, April 9. The accident occurred on Route 522 just North of Route 632 when Dahlgren’s vehicle ran off of the road and struck a tree. Dahlgren was killed on impact according to State Trooper Chuck Moore.

An autopsy will be performed.

• Milk, Cheese And Butter Offered

The Rappahannock County Department of Social Services will distribute powdered milk, butter and cheese to Food Stamp recipients in the basement of the Social Services Building on Tuesday, April 16 between the hours of 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. A green I.D. card will be required.

• Civil Liberties Report

Delegate Raymond R. “Andy” Guest, Jr. (R-Warren) has received a copy of the booklet “Maintaining the Balance-Civil Liberties in the 1985 General Assembly,” a report by the American Civil Liberties Union of Virginia.
