Warren Memorial Hospital in Front Royal has opened its newly remodeled obstetrical suite and is offering a special maternity package of services called “Great Expectations.”
The package guarantees in advance hospital charges for an uncomplicated delivery of a healthy baby.
“Great Expectations helps us hold down costs for patients and emphasizes our commitment to family-centered care,” said Pat Richardson, R.N., director of nursing.
For a predetermined price, Great Expectations includes use of the hospital’s birthing facilities (including the birthing room or traditional labor and delivery rooms), normal lab tests, drugs, x-rays, local anesthesia, nursery care, and room and meals. Mothers may choose either a two or three day stay and must enroll in the program early in their pregnancy to be certified low-risk.
“Our renovations will help us respond even better to our patient’s needs,” said Richardson. “We’re particularly proud of our birthing room.”
Rooming-in is available for mothers who wish to keep their babies with them during the day. The baby is returned to the nursery at night or whenever the mother has visitors other than the baby’s father. Older children and grandparents may visit during the mother’s stay.
