Brewer, Mrs. Zillah Gutowski, Mrs. Woodruff Kearns as State Chairman of State Conventions and Mrs. Edgar Puryear as a member of the National Resolutions Committee and State Chairman of National Defense.
Mrs. Metzinger read her report which she presented at the State Conference. Also told of the awards and citations the Culpeper Chapter received as: award for outstanding yearbook and for making the state honor roll, a citation and award for the presentation of the DAR Medal of Honor, a citation for having the greatest number of lines of publicity of any chapter in the State, and the American Heritage award.
Mrs. George Taylor compiled the materials for this award which consisted of an original story of Salubria and a painting of Salubria by Mrs. Lottie Eggleston; information with pictures on restoration of Mitchell’s Presbyterian church; our Regent’s project - the presentation of the DAR Medal of Honor to William Carrington and outstanding philanthropist of Rappahannock county; the tours to Washington, D.C. and Fredericksburg and other events of the chapter.
Mention was made of the $20,000 donated from the Virginia chapters toward the restoration of the Statue of Liberty. The 1986 State Convention will be held in Richmond March 17, 18, 19.
Mrs. Edgar Puryear briefly told of plans for “Jameson Day” ceremony to be held May 14 at 11:00 a.m. in the Culpeper Masonic Cemetery and of the luncheon to follow at Lake of the Woods - the fee for the luncheon to be $12.00 payable to the treasurer, Mrs. Philip Brewer by May 1. This ceremony will take the place of the regular meeting.
