A few DAR members from Culpeper, Madison and Rappahannock counties were donned in hats when the Culpeper Minute Men Chapter NSDAR met at the Malvern Club House of Madison Tuesday, April 2 with Mrs. Brainard Charlton and Miss Sarah Frances Johnston as hostesses.
But the lady with HATS was Mrs. William Windle, past Regent of the General Joseph Martin chapter NSDAR in Martinsville, Va. and now District VII State NSDAR director and State NSDAR registrar.
Mrs. Windle displayed a few of her 300 hat collection. Not only does she collect hats but she has a collection of 900 pairs of shoes and 200 dresses. Her talk was an intimate association with the culture of the past- an American Heritage phase.
