Rappahannock County High School’s Track Team began its season on April 2 with a meet against Stonewall Jackson and Manassas Park. The final team results of the meet were: Boys; Stonewall Jackson 66, Manassas Park 54 1/2 and Rappahannock 53 1/2. Girls; Stonewall Jackson 74 1/2, Manassas Park 41 and Rappahannock 401/2.
Girls placing first in the meet were Chandra Davis in the discus throw with 82’8”, Donna Williams in the shot put with 3071/4”, and Kelly Bristol in. the 300 meter low hurdles with a time of 56.8.
“Chandra is following in the footsteps of her sister, Marie, who was a State competitor,” Coach Ann Spieker said. “Chandra is a freshman with a lot of potential.” The 300 meter low hurdles is a new event for the girls, so Bristol’s win establishes a school record.
Bristol also came in second in another new event for the girls, the 100 meter intermediate hurdles, with a time of 19.0. Katheryn Davis placed second in the long jump with 14’1 1/2”. “Katheryn had trouble hitting the board correctly,” Spieker said.
The 400 meter relay team of Annette Fletcher, Angie Armentrout, Shannon Watton and Katheryn Davis finished second with a time of 58.6, which is a “good early season time,” said Spieker. Karen Ludwick came in
