second in the two mile run with a time of 14.56. “Karen is the only long distance runner for Rappahannock,” Spieker said.

The mile relay team of Heather Blevins, Kelly Bristol, Elizabeth Jenkins and Denice Eidson placed second with a time of 5:14. Karen Ludwick finished third in the mile run with a time of 7:00.

Placing fourth were: Heather Blevins in the high jump with a 4’2” clearance (tie), Katheryn Davis in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.9, Denice Eidson in the 400 meter run with a time of 74 seconds and Shannon Watton in the 200 meter dash with a time of 30.4.

“We were missing several good performers because of injury and vacations,” Spieker said. “The team should be back for the next meet.” Spieker said that the outstanding performers were those who won their events. “However, I think that many of the new girls to the sport got an education on what is needed to win their individual events, and many additions to the placing list will occur as the season progresses.”

First place winners in the boys’ events included Dexter Freeman in the long jump with 18T/2”. “I am really surprised with Dexter’s jumping ability,” Spieker said.
