Golf Classic Chairman
Garyr Cochran, a 43-year old Leesburg resident, was recently selected as the honorary chairman of the 1985 Loudoun Memorial Hospital Golf Classic.
He was formally diagnosed as having multiple sclerosis in 1970.
Cochran began playing at Purcelville’s Loudoun Golf and Country Club and won his first of four club championships at 16. He was a member of Loudoun County High School’s first team in 1961.
From there, he went to Shenandoah College where he placed second in the Virginia State Golf Association Open and won a scholarship to VPI&SU.
While attending Virginia Tech, Cochran won the Southern Conference golf championship and the Golf Association Open. After graduation, he became assistant pro at Burning Tree in Bethesda, Md.
He now works in Leesburg for deButts Real Estate and Auction Co.

Her fresh, all-American look “has caught on very well,” said Ford Agent Nancy Gleason. Miss Dillman’s future promises to be even brighter, Ms. Gleason said, adding the 18-year-old blonde will appear in an upcoming TV commercial for Brut cologne.
