Flower lovers will enjoy the current show at Middle Street Gallery. Though somewhat uneven, there are many interesting works in the Spring Flower Show. The exhibition encompasses a wide variety of expressions on the theme of flowers, using both traditional and experimental approaches.
A few of the highlights are Jeanne Drevas’ beautifully crafted ceramic morning glories climbing on a lattice around a mirror, Elsa Rosenthal’s graceful and exquisite poppy photograph, Nol Putnam’s small forged flowers, Cindy Mahan’s handcoloted “Rappahannock Wisteria” photograph, Joel Hoyer’s mystical golden flower combined with his characteristic heirographs, and Eva Wine’s bold mayflower pole in the V
