Mr. Croston, who is a lieutenant with the Amissville department, agreed with Mr. Butler. “They put a damn good stop on it,” he said as he surveyed the damage. “If they hadn’t gotten here when they did I’d have lost everything. . .I’ve seen this a thousand times — but it’s sure a lot different when it’s your own house,” he added, shaking his head.
In addition to Amissville Company 3, Company 1 from Washington and Flint Hill Company 4 also responded to the alarm.
