Although the supervisors took no action at Wednesday’s special meeting, they did announce that a work session on the new zoning ordinance would be held Monday, June 30. Presumably, the resolution Mr. Forman requires and the zoning approvals for the 10-foot lift at the Clark property landfill could be given at that time.
But the board took no action on a landfill resolution Monday.
“The implication was that they wanted to have liability insurance in place before they said anything,” Mr. Forman said Tuesday.
He noted that the supervisors expected to have coverage begin at midnight on June 30. “So I expect to hear from them shortly.”
In the meantime, the at-capacity dump continues to operate. “I’m waiting to hear what they say before I say ‘aye’ or ‘nay’,” Mr. Forman concluded.
In opening discussions with the area director for solid waste management last Wednesday, Supervisor J. Newbill Miller pointed out that the board has received no communication on the conditions for the extension from Mr. Forman, “the authority we have to answer to.”
“This is more or less a talk thing,” Mr. Forman countered. “We haven’t gotten an actual proposal (for the landfill expansion). We expect one this Friday,” he explained.
