Supervisor Lane noted that the board has considered several possible landfill locations in recent years. “Now we’ll be damn fortunate to come up with one. To get any more, we’d have to go to condemnation, and we want to avoid that."
Woodville resident Rick Johnson asked for a projection on the additional capacity that the lift will give the Clark property landfill.
“The gentleman who is doing the planning is designing it to blend in with the present site,” Mr. Forman replied. “He told me he thought it would give another year." To Mr. Johnson’s questions on the suitability for solid waste disposal of the rest of the Clark property, the regional director acknowledged “of course there is available land there for a site. But if it’s gonna be, that’s another question. It could be a site, if the board and the people desired.”
“The people,” at least several adjoining landowners, do not desire that the Clark property be used. Attorney David Konick, who represents some of those adjoining landowners, brought a revised resolution to Wednesday’s special meeting.
