Ingleside Plantation Vineyards’ 1982 Cabernet Sauvignon has been named the winner of the Governor’s Cup for the best Virginia wine entered in the Governor’s Cup competition. The announcement was made by the Virginia Wineries Association during a reception on Capitol Hill, sponsored by Virginia Senators John Warner and Paul Trible, to honor the competition winners and to kick off the 1986 Virginia Wineries Festival at Commonwealth Park, Culpeper, July 12 and 13.
The cup will be presented to Ingleside by Virginia State Secretary of Commerce and Resources Richard M. Bagley during ceremonies at Commonwealth Park July 12, the opening day of the two-day 1986 Virginia Wineries Festival. Bagley and Culpeper News publisher and former ABC Capitol Hill correspondent Joe McCaffrey are co-chairmen of the competition.
The wines were judged in Philadelphia at the prestigious L’Ecole de Vin operated by internationally renowned wine judge Bob Pema. The Ingleside 1982 Cabernet Sauvignon also won a gold medal in the competition. Pema, who organized the competition, said, “We were again
