Fauquier Planning Director Richard E. McNear is consulting with the supervisors, and his many years of experience will be invaluable. Zoning Administrator John McCarthy and Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke are also contributing their technical and legal expertise.

The new ordinances, in whatever form they are finally adopted, will not please everyone. There are groups inside and outside the county which do not share the supervisors’ opinion about the direction that Rappahannock’s development should take.

Regardless of their opinion, all the residents of Rappahannock should appreciate the fact that the supervisors and their advisors are working many long hours trying to ferret out potential problems before the regulations go into effect.

That is certainly preferable to and cheaper than having problems brought to light in the form of legal challenges decided against the county.
