Blueberry bushes also need to be covered with plastic netting or fine cloth (tobacco cloth) to control birds. When harvesting blueberries, remember to allow berries to remain on the plants for 3-5 days after they turn blue. Waiting several days allows berries to reach their maximum sugar content.
• To encourage petunias to branch, pinch them at planting time and again in mid-July. During July, cut them off about 3 to 4 inches above ground level. Weed, fertilize and clean up around them. The next pinching should take place in midAugust, and the last, during early September.
