I he last week of May, the English Whitsun week, we went to Holland by bus. Since it was a school vacation time the trip was less structured than the upcoming trip to Germany. We stayed in a hotel near the beach, which was my first surprise as I had not realized Holland had such lovely beaches. My second surprise was the warm and sunny weather. The Dutch proved to be very nice and Holland is a very clean country with many canals. In fact, canals are used to separate two fields of livestock instead of fencing.
There were of course too many things to see in just one week. We did get to the Rijkmuseum (containing the famous Night Watch by
