Mr. Williams cautioned against buying fireworks from people selling from their cars, or any devices not properly labeled. "If people would buy only what is legal, there wouldn’t be any problem,” Sheriff Woodward said.
If you must celebrate the Fourth with your own fireworks, Mr. Williams offered a few cautions:
• Don’t allow' children to play with bottle rockets, or be around other children who are. More injuries are caused by those devices than by any other, and 25 percent of eye injuries occur to spectators.
• Never allow fireworks to be treated as toys, and w'arn your children of the risk of injury. The average age of persons injured with fireworks is 15.
• Be aware of what your children are doing. It doesn’t take powerful explosives to cause serious injuries. Also, strict laws controlling fireworks do not alw'ays stem the “black
