nere are uiree general ways that these products can damage nontarget plants. Probably the greatest risk is from drift of spray droplets as these compounds are primarily foliarly absorbed. Plants such as tomato, pepper and grapes can be severely damaged by drift of the growth regulator herbicides. These chemicals are systemic and are active at extremely low levels. Avoid spraying under windy conditions and use lo*f pressures to produce larger spray droplets.

Another way injury can occur is due to volatilization from the soil surface under warm temperatures. These compounds can move in a gaseous state and be absorbed by plant leaves. Ester formulations are more volatile than amine formulations and hence pose a greater risk to non-target plants.
