Septic permits

get backed up

During the period from April 1986 to date a substantial increase in applications for septic tank permits has been noted in the Planning District 9. In comparison to the same period in 1985 there has been a 41 percent increase in Culpeper County, 34 percent in Fauquier County and 32 percent in Rappahannock County. Lesser increases have occurred in the remainder of the district.

According to Charles Shepherd, acting sanitarian manager, the increase in number of requests is greater than in any period since 1973 and probably will surpass that peak period this summer.
