Story hour at Library

Beginning Wednesday, July 16, the Rappahannock Library is offering weekly story hours from 10 to 11 a.m. Pre-schoolers are asked to sign up in advance for the programs which will be held July 16, 23 and 30, and August 6.

Coffee house and open mike

Come experience true amazement at a Pass-the-Hat Coffee House Saturday, July 19, at 8 p.m. at the Middle Street Gallery in Washington.

Two acts are scheduled along with the open mike for performances of all kinds. Call 675-3120 mornings to join the line-up, or come early the night of the Coffee House.

See magnificent Anthea perform original belly dancing in the ancient spiritual tradition. Easy Martin, poet, and Durell Jackson, “guitar god”, will create a poetry music jam entitled sometimes love is an outlaw. A $1 donation is requested at the door.

Painting class at Child Care

and Learning Center

The Child Care and Learning Center is sponsoring a painting class with Laurie Marshall for children ages 6-10 years of age July 2125 from 9:30 to noon at the Center. Students will create a series of acrylic paintings on canvas board based on a theme which is important to the individual. The emphasis of the course will be on finding a meaningful image, developing it from different angles and using high quality materials. There will also be daily drawing exercises and a public display of the work. Children must be registered no later than July 18. The cost of the class is $30. Dance class scheduled

The Child Care and Learning Center will sponsor a jazz and ballet dance class beginning Thursday, July 10, at the Learning Center. Angie Howard will instruct the eight-week series. The pre-school age class will begin at 4 p.m. and the school age class at 5 p.m. For more information contact the Learning Center at 675-3237.
