As chairman of the Rappahannock-Rapidan Planning District Commission (PD-9) I can not let the misinformation and erroneous perception expressed in Bob Eastham’s letter (Rappahannock News, June 12) go unanswered. I appreciate Werner Krebser’s response to help set the record straight.
By way of background the Virginia Area Development Act passed by the General Assembly in 1968 established 22 Planning Districts in Virginia. We are in PD-9 consisting of the following counties and towns: Rappahannock and Washington, Orange and Gordonsville, Fauquier and Warrenton, Culpeper and Town of Culpeper and Madison County. The majority of the members must be elected officials; the others can be residents of the district, registered voters who hold no elected office.
