Paine designs
Liberty stamp
The new Statue of Liberty postage stamp issued simultaneously by both the United States and France was designed by Howard Paine of Delaplane, father of Wakefield students Adam, Brent and Melissa Paine.
Mr. Paine, a graphics artist, used for the Statue of Liberty stamp, a close-up view of the statue’s left profile in blue and red. He based his work on a photograph by Peter B. Kaplan, an artist noted for his bird’seye photograph of New York.
