Beal graduated
cum laude
Elizabeth Anne Beal was graduated cum laude with a degree in government from Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass, on June 11.
While at Harvard, Miss Beal was cover story editor for the Harvard Political Review, taught English to Southeast Asian refugees in Boston, was a representative on the Undergraduate Affairs Committee of the Department of Government, and served as a political research intern at the Bunting Institute at Radcliffe College.
She was also honored with a Harvard College Scholarship and the Elizabeth Agassiz Certificate of Merit. She was the valedictorian of the Class of 1982 at Lee-Davis High School.
Miss Beal has accepted an internship at the American University in Cairo, Egypt for the 1987-88 academic year.
She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Beal Jr. of Old Church, Va. and the granddaughter of Frank E. Atkins of Sperryville. Her mother is the former Hilda Atkins.
Residents urged

to Dormans
Max and Lois Dorman, formerly of Flint Hill and Washington, are now residing in North Carolina. Friends of the Dormans contacted a resident of the Town of Washington this’ week and told her of Mr. DorWiantyre&inb Hlness. It appears that he will be confined for several weeks and would love to hear from his friends in Rappahannock.
Mr. Dorman was principal of the Washington High School in the 1940s, and Mrs. Dorman was librarian there. They lived at the Barksdale apartment in Flint Hill for most of their stay in Rappahannock.
The Dormans’ address is Rt. 3, 200 Woods End Drive, Hendersonville, N.C. 28739.
“We feel sure an expression of concern will give both Max and Lois a much needed boost at this time,” friends said.
Tourney held
for women
A women’s bracket softball tournament will be held June 27 at Shenandoah Park near Stephens City.
Cost is $85 plus two softballs. Trophies will be awarded to the first- and second-place overall finishers, plus bracket winners.
