A colonial reenactment group will pitch camp on the vacant lot on North Main St. next to the Washington Cash Store, with displays and demonstrations of army camp life during the Revolutionary War period. Periodically throughout the day members of the group will march and drill on the town’s streets. After eating dinner, the soldiers will march through the town and down to Avon Hall for the evening program.
Among the afternoon’s events are the arrival of the Pegasus Med-Evac helicopter around 12:30. The chopper’s flight crew will explain this state-ofthe-art emergency medical tool, which has been responsible for life-saving evacuations for several county residents. Chief Roach added that the helicopter will still be on call, so it may be late in arriving, and may have to leave at a moment’s notice if its services are needed elsewhere. Pegasus, based at the University of Virginia Medical Center’s shock-trauma, supplies medical evacuation services throughout the northern and central Piedmont.
Hot air balloon, classic cars
Later in the afternoon, weather permitting, a hot-air balloon will set down on the lawn at Avon Hall, and will offer tethered ascensions for the crowd.
During the afternoon as well, a number of antique and classic cars are expected to arrive. The car show will be held on the lawn of Avon Hall. Dave Konick, who is organizing the informal show, said that he hopes to have a good turnout of restored automobiles this year.
