There will be games for children, organized by Child Care and Learning Center Director Carrie Anabo, including a tug-of-war and races.
The Singing Word gospel group will provide music for the crowd, and later in the evening will be among the large group singing patriotic music. That will lead to the singing of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” which the crowd will be asked to participate in, followed by the fireworks display.
Mr. Thomasson said the evening program will be handled with a “structured unstructuredness.” He said that the idea is to have several things going on at once in different places. Among the entertainers will be Ann Kolack, who will be doing face-painting for the children in the crowd.
Phil Irwin will serve as master of ceremonies, overseeing the multiple events on the lawn. He will be assisted by Brad Fisher.
