A cornucopia of cuisines

Food will be in abundance, Chief Roach promised. The fire department’s pig roast begins at 4 p.m. There will be a beer garden and vineyard on the lot next to the Rappahannock National Bank, where food will be available as well.

A number of vendors will also be offering food for sale. The Flint Hill Fire Department will have strawberry shortcakes, and a blueberry farmer will be among the vendors with fresh blueberry desserts. There will also be homemade goat cheese and South American hot sausages among the other food vendors.

Last year, the larger than expected crowd cleaned out the food stands by mid-afternoon, but the organizers promised plenty to eat this year. Everyone has been alerted to double the amount of food available, they said.

Other activities in town during the day may include carriage rides and a fife and drum corps.
