Celebrating an old-fashioned Independence Day has become a tradition in Rappahannock. This year will be no exception.
From Amissville to Sperryville, with Washington in the middle, the county’s residents and businesses will be dressed up in patriotic splendor for the holiday.
In Washington, of course, the Washington Volunteer Fire Department’s annual Fourth of July celebration will be “bigger and better than ever,” according to Chief Roger Roach, who is coordinating the day’s events. “If all goes according to plan, it should be a really big celebration. The town is starting to get a reputation for a good time - a lot of people want to come.”
The town will kick off its celebration at 10 a.m., with attractions planned throughout the day, until the evening program begins on the lawn of Avon Hall around dinnertime.
