Families, friends and community members are invited to attend the annual Ole Hollow reunion on Sunday, June 28, at noon at Thornton’s Gap Regular Baptist Church near Sperryville. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish and a beverage. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m.
Ruritan beef barbecue
The 26th annual beef barbecue sponsored by the Amissville Ruritan Club will be held on Saturday, July 4, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Amissville carnival grounds, Rt. 211, west of Warrenton. Prices are $7 for adults and $3.50 for children.

workshop planned
A weekend workshop for women artists and writers, “The Woman Artist: Ritual, Myth, and Transformation,” will be offered June 26-27 by Denise H. Horton, Ph.D., a writer and licensed clinical psychologist in private practice in Washington, D.C., and Rappahannock County.
The workshop will explore the use of ritual and ceremony in the creative process, and will include a native American sweat lodge ceremony, rnnnHnln drawing, sandpainting, journalling, and exercises to explore the creative unconscious. ‘Round Midnight9
French director Bernard Tavernier’s eloquent ode to a generation of jazzmen, with be-bop colossus Dexter Gordon as a winded saxophonist who comes to Paris in the late ’50s to make his comeback, is told in “Round Midnight” to be shown June 27 and 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Gay Street Theatre. Gordon’s astonishing performance carries the film, but Tavernier’s staging and improvisational structure aid him in his moving tribute. Herbie Hancock wrote the award-winning score. The movie is rated R. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children.
' Senior lifesaving classes
Senior lifesaving, certified by the American Red Cross, will be offered at the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center beginning Monday, June 29. The class will be held every Monday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon through July 25. There is no charge for the course. For fbrther information or to enroll call the Center at 635-7171.
‘The 39 Steps9 at Gay St. Theatre
“The 39 Steps” will be playing at the Gay Street Theatre on Thursday, June 25, at 7:30 p.m. The movie is Hitchcock’s internationally renowned thriller and has Robert Donat attempting to dear himself of a murder charge by finding the real killers. Madeleine Carroll Is „ the opinionated young lady who unwillingly becomes his companion. ■'

Civilization has become so protective that we’re no longer able to get our goosebumps instinctively.” He also said, “Sex on the screen should be suspenseful. If sex is too blatant or obvious, there’s no suspense. I think the most interesting women, sexually, are the English women.”
