The situation this summer is almost the opposite of that last year. This spring was abnormally wet, Mr. Wingfield said, with rainfall amounts of 6.39 inches in April and another 5.18 inches in May. June added another 2.97 inches to the total.
Last year, April brought Rappahannock 3.86 inches of precipitation, while May saw only 2.02 inches. That was followed by a scant 1.45 inches in June.
