It looks like Congress has been so busy being bought by the cellular telephone industry that they forgot to preserve the freedom of the common man to listen to his radio or TV set with the dial where he pleases. That freedom is now gone with the passage of the Electronic Communication Privacy Act of 1986.
Which freedom will Congress take away next? If they do for the newspaper what they have done for the radio they would pass a newspaper communications privacy act which would provide a five-year jail term for anyone caught reading a certain page of the newspaper - perhaps the editorial page.
