I think that most people, deep down inside, have an inherent potential for a strong will. This is accompanied by a strong sense of determination to make changes in their lives when they need to be made.
This will and determination become most evident with people who are trying to lose weight, quit smoking or make some other rruyor, longterm change in their lives. Although it is sometimes unclear why an individual may have decided to make those positive changes, all too often it is because they are experiencing some type of personal crisis.
The overweight man who decided to begin an exercise program may have made that commitment after his doctor warned him about his high blood pressure. The woman who finally got serious about dieting may have done so after she was told by her doctor that she had hypoglycemia.
It may take treatment for ulcers to make another person decide it is time to deal with the stress which is troubling his life. And parents may finally decide to go to family counseling after their young son has a brush with the law.
